Playing with fire! Nurses of the week The ambulance service, nurses and First Aid volunteers (St John Ambulance) for taking care of injuries resulting from a weekend of bonfires and firework displays. Bonfire night is a peculiar part of official British folklore; as well as an enduring activity for school children that never fails to stimulate debate on health and safety issues. A quick summary Guy Fawkes Night, also known as Guy Fawkes Day, Bonfire Night and Firework Night, takes place on 5 November, in Great Britain. Its history begins with the events of 5 November 1605, when Guy Fawkes, a member of the Gunpowder Plot, was arrested while guarding explosives placed beneath the House of Lords. To Celebrate the fact that King James I had survived the attempt on his life, people lit bonfires around London, and months later the introduction of the Observance of 5th November Act enforced an annual public day of thanksgiving for the plot's failure.
